Babyroo
Being a modern mum, on the birth of baby Theo, Laura and husband Adam decided not to have a conventional pram or buggy but would transport Theo by way of a baby sling or harness. Having attracted a lot of interest with her sling, Laura thought there may be an opportunity to exploit a niche in the market selling baby slings and related products locally.
Through her own experience and after extensive research, Laura found that babies carried in slings were often more content and happier but also allowed the parent to have their hands free to perform day-to-day tasks. Having found out about e-factor through the business link website, Laura decided to drop in to the e-factor office to see if they could help her turn her business idea into a reality. Not knowing what to expect, Laura immediately found all of the e-factor staff friendly, approachable and even happy for her to bring Theo along to meetings with her business adviser.
Having spoken with an e-factor business adviser, Laura was guided every step of the way with putting together a robust business plan and cash flow forecast highlighting the viability of her business. Now with a clear vision and direction for the business, Laura was eventually successful in applying for funding through the e-factor and Babyroo was born!
With the specialist help from the e-factor team, Laura was then able to develop the Babyroo website (www.babyroo.org.uk) as an online market place to sell the slings both locally and globally. With the funding she received Laura was also able to purchase a computer, equipment and her first batch of stock. Since commencing trading, Laura is pleased to see sales of her baby slings improving month on month and has even taken orders from abroad. Looking to the future Laura is now investigating potential manufacturers to produce her own line of baby slings and knows that her business adviser is only a phone call away to help her on her journey.
"Ever since being a teenager I have always wanted to be my own boss and with the help and support from the e-factor I have finally done it!" Laura Treacher - Babyroo
