Enterprising students step up to the challenge!
Over 50 enterprising students from secondary Schools across North East Lincolnshire took part in the big inc. enterprise challenge on Friday 27th March at the Grimsby Auditorium. The event, the first of its kind for inc., was delivered collaboratively with No Limits Education.
During the event, eleven teams of Year 9 students competed to design the most innovative educational toy. All of the students spent the day working on the challenge with the help from inc. and no limits experts whittling their ideas down to one final product which they would then build. Each team then created a prototype of each product that they then presented to a panel of judges in a "Dragons' Den" style pitch. The panel of judges headed by Mark Webb, Managing Director of e-factor, awarded points to the students that showcased the most unique ideas and passion for their product.
The top six teams, as judged by the panel, from Healing School, Oasis Academy Immingham, Havalock School, Lindsey School and Hereford School will now have the chance to build their products and enter the final heat of the competition at the "Enterprise Oscars" event this November. The overall winning team on the day from Healing School developed an interactive model named "Skeletron" designed to help young children learn about the body and the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
Matthew Draycott, inc. Project Manager said:
"The students involved were extremely enthusiastic and showed real commitment to their ideas. I am very much looking forward to working with these students to develop their ideas and to see what they present this November at the Oscars!"
