Students turn Junk 2 Funk at Oasis

November came and e-factors early enterprise initiative known as “inc.” saw the success of the fashion challenge held at Oasis Immingham during enterprise week.  A range of local students from across the area took part in the activity as well as Oasis’ own Year 7 and 8 students.

34 teams of young and talented students took part in the challenge branded “Junk 2 Funk” and created unique and exceptional fashion items. Each team designed and made; one piece of clothing, one accessory and one item of headwear. The teams were then judged based on creativity, style and originality.

Peter Skinner, Business, Enterprise Education Consultant said:

“inc. as part of e-factor would like to thank the Asian community in Alum Rock Birmingham which donated much of the fabric the students used in their designs.”

With these kindly donated materials the challenge was able to take on a life of its own, allowing students to truly embrace the activity, their own creativity and to produce amazing results, exceeding all expectations.

Cara Oakley, Early Enterprise Project Manager said:

“This challenge may not seem like the usual enterprise centred activity that inc. and e-factor is known for, but this challenge gave those who took part the chance to be truly enterprising. creating unique and stylish clothing from a collection of resources that was destined to be junk.”
